1. WHO IS THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR TREATMENT AT UROSPOT?

Women: UROSPOT is a great option for women of ANY age who desire a solution for bladder leaks, urgency, frequency, and improvement in their pelvic health. Our team will determine the right treatment plan that is individualized for your symptoms and your goals.

Men: UROSPOT is a great option for men with bladder leaks, urgency, frequency, night waking and erectile dysfunction caused by pelvic floor dysfunction.  Even men who have had a radical prostatectomy. Whichever service you choose at UROSPOT, our team will determine the right treatment plan that is individualized for your symptoms and your goals.

2. HOW LONG IS TREATMENT? HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Our Nurse will tailor an individualized treatment plan for you.  For most people this means 6 sessions scheduled twice a week for three weeks. The treatment time on the chair takes 30 minutes.

You may also incorporate appointments with our physiotherapist if you choose.

3. DO I NEED TO REMOVE MY CLOTHES DURING MY SESSION?

No. You remain fully clothed.  There is no undressing into a gown either.  You wear the clothes you arrive in.

4. WILL ANYONE OR ANYTHING BE TOUCHING MY BODY, OR WILL ANYTHING GO INSIDE ME?

Absolutely not.  You simply sit on the chair fully clothed.  By sitting on the right spot, it allows a wave of electromagnetic energy to be directed towards your pelvic floor muscles.  That energy does all the work while you enjoy watching your favourite show or read a magazine.

5. WHAT DOES TREATMENT FEEL LIKE? IS IT PAINFUL?

You will experience tingling and contraction of ALL your pelvic floor muscles during your session. It is NOT painful, and you can resume daily activities immediately after your session.

6. ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

The main “side effect” is more pleasure during sex.  I guess you could call that a side effect, but we call it a bonus. There is a rare chance you could notice some mild cramping or discomfort which should subside quickly.

7. HOW FAST WILL I EXPERIENCE RESULTS?

Improvement occurs gradually with each session in your treatment plan.  Some people begin to notice improvement as early as their first few sessions. Typically, you can expect your optimal outcomes to be achieved around 6 weeks post treatment.

8. WHO IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR UROSPOT?

If you are pregnant, or have had a hip replacement, or have a pacemaker, or have a copper IUD you will not be able to receive treatment at UROSPOT. Your pelvic floor can be in a state of weakness or a state of tension. Both can cause incontinence. The technology at UROSPOT is able to balance the tone of your muscle but if we suspect your pelvic floor is in a state of too much tension, we will recommend you meet with our physiotherapist who will decide if treatment is right for you.

If you are not a candidate, there are many other paths to improving pelvic health. Our team of pelvic health physiotherapists will be happy to meet with you and provide a comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment plan to help you reach your goals.

9. HOW SOON AFTER PREGNANCY SHOULD I WAIT STARTING AT UROSPOT?

We recommend waiting until at least 4 months post partum. However, you must also be finished bleeding and cleared by your physician to begin exercising again.

10. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A PELVIC HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPIST. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Absolutely. At UROSPOT our passion is pelvic health and female empowerment. We believe everyone should be free to decide how they want to receive self-care. UROSPOT provides pelvic health physiotherapy services both in-person and virtually. There is no requirement to visit UROSPOT. Our physiotherapists will do a comprehensive assessment and determine an individualized treatment plan for your care.

11. WILL UROSPOT HELP MY SEX LIFE?

Improved sexual function is a reported “side effect”.  The muscle stimulation and contractions performed during your sessions improves the fitness of your pelvic floor (the muscles that are involved in sexual function) and increases blood flow to the area.  As a result, many women report increased pleasure during intercourse and stronger orgasms.  Many men report improved strength and duration of erection.

12. IS THE TECHNOLOGY SAFE?

Yes! This technology is CE approved.

13. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THIS TECHNOLOGY?

Very effective! In the following clinical study 95% of treated patients improved their quality of life. These results were maintained during the 3 and 6 month follow-ups. 2/3 of the treated patients reduced or totally eliminated the use of pads in day-to-day life. 100% of patients reported better awareness of the pelvic floor muscles. 14. I WEAR A PESSARY INSIDE MY VAGINA TO HELP WITH BLADDER LEAKS? DO I NEED TO REMOVE MY PESSARY BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?

No.  You can leave your pessary in during treatment.

15. HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?

By incorporating everything you’ve learned at UROSPOT, your results should be long lasting, but like any muscle it’s important to maintain its fitness. A single 30-minute maintenance appointment is recommended every 4 months to keep your results at their peak performance.

16. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR DURING MY SESSIONS?

We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting pants so that you can easily position yourself on the chair.

17. CAN I USE THE CHAIR WHILE I’M ON MY PERIOD?

We recommend you wait until after your period ends to begin.

18. CAN MEN RECEIVE TREATMENT AT UROSPOT?

Absolutely.  The technology is approved for both women and men.  Many men struggle with bladder leaks, urgency, frequency, night waking and sexual functioning just like women do.

19. I HAVE ENDOMETRIOSIS. WILL UROSPOT HELP ME?

We have noticed that women with endometriosis have reported decreased pelvic pain, especially during the time of their menstrual cycle. While not coming in to be treated for this specifically, it is a positive side benefit being reported by endo sufferers at UROSPOT.
